Seeking God Early
The Story of Sarah
When Sarah was young, her mornings were filled with cartoons and cereal. God was someone she heard about on Sundays, but not someone she spent time with during the week. Life moved on—university, work, and adult responsibilities. Then the unexpected happened: her mom got sick, her job became uncertain, and anxiety crept in.
One quiet night, overwhelmed and weary, she opened her Bible and found this verse:
"You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart." – Jeremiah 29:13 (NIV)
That moment marked the beginning of a new habit: seeking God before the storms hit, not just during them.
Don’t Wait for Trouble
Many of us are like Sarah. We wait until the ground shakes before we fall to our knees. But God calls us to seek Him early—not just in the morning hours, but at the start of every season, decision, and day.
"I love those who love me, and those who seek me early shall find me." – Proverbs 8:17 (KJV)
"Early" doesn’t only refer to time on the clock. It’s a call to prioritize God: before crisis, before plans, before we try fixing things on our own.
A Lesson from King David
King David gives us a beautiful model of this in Psalm 63:1:
"O God, You are my God; early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You..."
David didn't just seek God when running from enemies—he sought Him in quiet moments, in worship, and in victory. His relationship with God wasn’t emergency-based, but rooted in daily communion.
Children's Day: Teach Them Young
This Children’s Day, we’re reminded of our role in shaping the spiritual lives of the next generation.
"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it." – Proverbs 22:6 (NKJV)
If our children only see us praying when problems arise, they may grow to think God is only for trouble. But when they see us pray with joy, seek God for guidance, and thank Him regularly, it becomes their norm.
🧒 Practical Ways to Teach Children to Seek God:
Begin with short morning prayers together.
Memorize simple scriptures weekly.
Encourage them to thank God for small blessings.
Let them ask questions about God and help them find answers.
Seek God in the Good Times Too
It’s easy to drift from God when things are going well. But Scripture gives a clear warning:
"When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the Lord your God... be careful that you do not forget the Lord." – Deuteronomy 8:10–14 (NIV)
A life of prosperity without God is still empty. Gratitude should lead us toward God, not away from Him.
Conclusion: A Life Anchored in God
Sarah now starts her mornings with prayer and scripture, not panic. Life is still unpredictable, but she’s grounded in peace. Why? Because she no longer waits for trouble to seek her Savior.
So, whether you're enjoying a calm season or walking through a storm, remember this:
Seek Him early—and you will find Him.
